The University of Valencia (UCH) offers you the possibility of starting your degree next winter semester considering more than just the grades you achieved in high school. This university provides degrees in dentistry and veterinary medicine without detours at one of the best private universities in Europe. At the end of the course duration of five years you will obtain a fully recognised medical licence, valid in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The course contents in dentistry are taught entirely in English. Specific technical terms in English are taught early on in the course. At the University of Valencia an important admission criterion is that a Skype interview is held. MediStart is the university’s official agency for applicants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and as such it supports you with the necessary preparations.
The quality of the tuition at the University of Valencia is particularly high. You will benefit from modern equipment at the teaching centres, as well as state-of-the-art IT systems and small learning groups. During the practical part of the degree a tutor will be assigned to two students with the aim of optimising the learning experience.
The university is internationally loved. Ten percent of students at the medical faculty are foreign students. Many of these are from the USA as well from Northern and Western Europe, for example from Germany, the United Kingdom and Sweden. As a student of dentistry or veterinary medicine you will have regular access to the highly modernised clinical facilities, in order for you to gather practical experience at the cutting edge of technology and medicine. Furthermore, you will have frequent exchanges with clinics as well as veterinary practices so that your theoretical knowledge can be anchored early on through personal experience. This practice-oriented approach is an important component of a degree at the University of Valencia, as proven by the 2,700 practical placements it offers to its students.
For decades the University of Valencia has stood for high quality and for medical training adapted to the latest scientific findings. The university is a member of the San Pablo Foundation of communal teaching facilities. This way it is part of the 25 teaching institutions that has existed for over 80 years.
The university is experiencing ever-growing international popularity. Foreign students therefore receive special services: in order to ensure a frictionless start to life in the new city and to the degree itself, the university has opened an English- and German-speaking Hospitality Service Office that caters exclusively to the interests of foreign-language students. As a student, you will have a full-time contact person, who can explain everything in English or German and assist you in both private and academic matters.
Professors at the university often work at the clinical institutions where you will be gathering your practical experiences. This way contact points are established during the theoretical and practical parts of your degree, which positively influence the learning curve. A further important aspect is the Quality Assurance. The University of Valencia frequently has its degree programmes reviewed and its professors evaluated. In doing so it remains in line with state-of-the-art advances, which have made it stand out for decades.
Valencia’s 800,000 inhabitants make it Spain’s third largest city. It is located on the eastern coast of the country and boasts a very mild climate. The annual average temperature of 17°C means you can enjoy a truly Mediterranean lifestyle here. The infrastructure matches that of other large European cities, meaning that you can travel inside the city quickly and without problem. The campus at the University of Valencia has its own rail connection; it is located in Moncada slightly outside the city centre in picturesque orange plantations. There are frequent direct flights to Germany, for example to Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.
Thanks to its 2,000-year-old history Valencia has much to offer to culture aficionados. Old buildings like the Silk Exchange, which dates back to 1533, museums, parks and monuments decorate the city’s landscape. The city provides its 80,000 students with everything that their hearts might desire: clubs, culinary specialities, beautiful beaches and water sports only make up a small part of that. Numerous discounts are reserved to students, for local public transport for instance. As a student you will be able to join a comprehensive university programme aimed at leisure activities. This includes sports such as football, volleyball and basketball, as well as mountain-biking and sailing.
In order to apply to the University of Valencia you will require a high school diploma and good English skills. If you will be obtaining your high school diploma in 2020 it is already possible to apply now. Rather than high grades a successful application rests on an interview, in which your suitability is evaluated. MediStart coaches you ahead of the interview, collects all the documents and takes care of the next application steps, in order to provide you with the best possible chance of being accepted for a place at the university of Valencia.
The interview is held via Skype with the responsible examining board. It can help to further demonstrate your motivation if you have completed previous practical training or if your parents have a medical background.
You are not required to pass an admission test, because your suitability for a degree in dentistry or veterinary medicine is established during the interview. MediStart prepares you for your individual interviews and assists you in obtaining a study place in Valencia.
